I don't know where else to turn; hopefully someone here can shed a little light on what's going on with me. I'll give you all as much detail as possible...
I'm a 32 year old female. I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic two years ago, and I'm considered morbidly obese. I've had a high white blood and platelet count for about 18 months now. Seen the hemotologist numerous times. They coudln't find anything, except that I have a high positive ANA profile. Because rheumatoid arthritis and lupus both run in my family, I was referred to a rheumatologist. The rheumatologist looked me over and couldn't find anything, and was very perplexed because my ANA profile was so high. He asked me questions about my bowels and diahrrea, etc... and out of embarassment I told him no, everything's fine. As soon as I got home, I immediately regretted lying to him. I've had diahrrea, fecal incontinence and stomach issues for so long that I didn't think anything of it, and also was horribly too embarassed to admit to it. I'm so used to doctors telling me that my weight is to blame for everything, that I've always assumed that was causing all that. I got home and started researching why he was asking those questions, and started reading about Crohn's.
My question here is this -- does anyone here with Crohn's have a positive ANA profile as well as high white blood cell/platelet count? could this be indicative of Crohn's, and should I go back to the doc?
Thank you to anyone who reads this and can provide me with any kind of advice!
