Crohn's in Prison?

Don't worry, I haven't done anything wrong! I just watched a prison movie, and started wondering what happens to people with conditions like Crohn's in prison. Does the ADA's stipulation for reasonable accommodation extend to prisons? What about PRN medications, and pain killers, or skipping work/meals when you don't feel well?

I can't imagine how horrible it must be to have Crohn's in prison - I get sympathetic stress pains just thinking about it!

My brother is in jail after false accustion and screwed up trail in the South. He has diagnosis of Crohns and before incarceration received every 2 weeks a Humira shot. His wife is RN and has good insurance. She told the jail that she could have the injection sent to them from the pharmacy. The medication never came to her house it just went straight to the jail. One of the guards the first time threw it in the trash! 10,000 in the freaking trash. The 2nd time the jail did not accept it because it did not come from the DOC and 'could have been tampered with per the warden'. Then they didn't want to give him the shots because they were 'too expensive'.
Well that is why his wife wanted to keep sending it to him in a timely manner! She had a feeling they would screw around with his medication. He was in a sort of remission before and now he is pooping on himself at night before making it to bathroom.
He had a hip replaced 8 weeks before he was incarcerated because of so much Steroid use with the Crohns. Guess where they put him- YEP on a effing top bunk so he has to climb up and down with concerns of falling and breaking hip. And when he is awakened with urges to have BM at night (about 3-5 times a night) he has to remember not to jump out of bed (and fall ff the bed). He has been not making it and having accidents in his underwear. He asked for briefs instead of boxers or for an adult diaper at night but his requests have fallen on deaf ears. They don't seem to give a sh**! He was taking Immodium per his GI MD orders 6-8 a day and the Prison MD said told him 'well, that GI just didn't mean for you tot take that much Immodium. You can have 1 in the am and 1 in the pm. So they have screwed with his remission and he needs a colonoscopy. They took him on a 5 hour trip to a GI (He poople all in the back of the transport and he said he thought they would hit him for it :-(
He said the transport driver said and I quote per his report to me "you crap too much, no food for you for the rest of the day'. So he didnt' get any lunch and 1 coke for the entire trip and supper was over when he got back to jail. He has been sicker than when he was first diagnosed. Blood in his stool, mucous. He has lost 52 pounds in 4 months and they just don't care!
I am looking for a lawyer who has any sense about the ADA or who can help me get help for my brother inside this sick broken 'justice system'! If anyone can help me, please, I will take any suggestions.
I contaced the ACLU and was told that they can't help just 1 human being it has to be more than 1 person in trouble in any situation because their funds are limited they can't help just 1 white boy in jail with Crohns (my interpretation of what the guy on the phone told me). I'm mad as hades about it but they basically said 1 person doesn't count has to be a situation where many humans' rights are violated.
Most lawyers I talk to are like 'well, we can't make them give medicine- sorry'. Dumb dumb to be so educated!

Any help or suggestions out there for me and my sweet baby brother?
