Why would you need to skip treatment? I wouldn't recommend starting it at all if you aren't going to be able to maintain the infusion schedule. Is there another med that would work for you?

Gotcha. Well.... Have you looked into those patient assistance programs? When I was on Humira I was able to get assistance and I had a $5 copay. I don't know if Remicade has one of those, but maybe someone else on the board knows. Or you could google it. Are you in the U.S.?

Look into Remistart. They will help pay what your insurance doesn't cover. Your GI's office should know about it; if they don't, google it and you can find their website and the forms you need.

The problem with starting and then stopping is that you can build up antibodies and not be able to start again. When you first start, your initial doses have to be at 0 weeks, 2 weeks, and 6 weeks, then you go to every 8 weeks (usually). There isn't a snowball effect after that - in fact, many people start seeing symptoms a few days before their infusion. So it really only works while you're doing treatment.
