Hello all,
Challenging 24 hours. My colo rectal surgeon refuses to do surgery. He thinks we might have the possibility to have this heal and to continue doing the stretches. After the last 24 hours I'm wondering if I can make it one more day...let alone 4-6 months. Accidents abound. There has got to be a way to "regulate" this stuff so it only comes out on some type of schedule. Plus laxatives have to be used to keep it thin...but they make me nauseated...and the other uncontrollable...then there's the fistulas...I'm like a darn sprinkler!!!! Aaagh. I am so frustrated.
GI said I was against surgery when I asked about other options...stretching(at first he did not want to do that), stents that are biodegradable, raising Remicade amount and using steroids to get inflammation down. It just seemed like he went straight to surgery...when I left the hospital he said he'd read up on the stents...still unsure on raising the Remicade amount or shortening the time between infusions....but considering it. Colo rectal surgeon put me on prednison with slow taper, milk of magnesia, anti spaz meds for colon, and he seemed to think we should raise remi amount...worth a try. But GI has to be on board.
The food processor worked on the scd chicken soup. But wondering if everything is so liquid should I be worried about things being thicker...(scd diet says it'll help stop D) Will it clog things up? And how do you know when the new enlarged opening is going to stay open? And if it does stay open do you try to get doctors to enlarge all the way to 22mm so that you could maybe thicken things up so you wouldn't have accidents? Sorry guys, I've never experienced this before...and I'm hoping one of you (and more) have suggestions.
Thanks again for your input. You all keep me sane in an insane situation.
