Have any of you had this situation? I had my first resection in Jan 2010. I had crohn's show up in 6 weeks although i was on 6mp. I was told then that about 75% will need another one in 10 years. I had a colonoscopy back in March and unfortunately, the DR could not get the scope through my old surgery site due to strictures from the original surgery. He is trying again next month. I asked him what do we do if he still cannot get through. he answered nothing unless i get more symptoms since i am already on biologics. He did say we might move to one of the newer ones, or he could using a balloon to stretch the area, but he does not like doing that at surgery sites. He thinks it is more at risk for punctures.
So, the last option would be another surgery. He said if inflammation is there and it is bad, we would have a lot to discuss. if no or little inflammation, then we just continue with what we have since I dont really show symptoms right now
Does this sound normal to have structures from original surgery that would cause the need for another surgery? I am confused.....
