Liver not working & ascites - any positives

I've tried so bloody hard over the years to write off the downs (of which there have been many) and big up the few highs. But the negatives keep coming.

Two weeks ago my abdomen started to swell and I generally felt like death. My LFTs never went out of range (infact still aren't). Here is another friggin' flare I thought. Anyway detail not needed ... Just been told my liver isn't working and I've 2 litres of ascites in my abdomen. After the scan they also did unplanned chest X-rays and mammograms! A barrage of further tests are needed - and they plan to drain the fluid.

Now I can google as well as the next person... So I'm somewhat friggin' scared. Has anyone got any first hand experience of ascites being caused by something minor. Anything... Please
