Spent the night in ER with case of Cellulitis in my calf

Is this something can happen with us crohnie's? Have any of you had this happen? if so what was your outcome?

In ER, I was given an IV antibiotic, plus an oral one. then then sent me home with RX for two different antibiotics. He said to follow up with my GP in 2 days, or come back f it gets worse or temp spikes.

Now, I had no cuts, blisters or rash...just a red, swollen and hot to the touch right calf. I just dont knw how the bateria got in. I am on Humeria, but geezzee

Any feedback is greatly appreciaed

Being on Humira will make you susceptible to infection. A quick online search for a connection to Crohn's does seem to show it's connected, but you've probably already checked that too. I noticed you're on verapamil - my husband had several bouts of cellulitis in his calf years ago while he was on verapamil. We always wondered if there was a connection to that drug. He changed BP medications and hasn't had it since, but we don't know for sure if it was just a coincidence.

Thanks for the reply, I do have edema in that same leg so that doesn't help either. This was a side effect of losing lymph nodes in my groin from the heart lung machine. They got infected. During heart surgery. On top of immune system, they regulate body fluid.

It is always something. My wife is tired of driving me to the ER.
