I just had to withdrawal from running a marathon relay (four-person team runs the marathon so it's about
a 10k per person) this weekend because of my health. While this is not nearly as crappy as three years ago when I had to withdrawal from a triathlon after training for five months, it is still super frustrating how my body doesn't like to cooperate when I'm trying to do things that are good for it.
The Crohn's is making my fatigue much worse and causing a lot of random issues (regular charlie horses that turn into all-day soreness in my calves from low potassium + steroids). On top of that, my asthma started acting up this summer and my exertion migraines have gotten worse (now I vomit when I have them, yippee!). Seriously, why is my body conspiring against me? I'm also almost out of options for my migraine treatment because of side effects or contraindications with other health issues (not being able to take NSAIDs really, really sucks).
On the bright side, I'm mentally much better equipped to handle all this than during my last flare when the emotional part of chronic illness turned me into a wreck for a good 18 months. Yay for low-dose antidepressants I guess. :)
Okay, enough complaining. Time to get back to work.
Keep on swimming Crohnies.

I'm still trying to convince myself just to get up and change my bed sheets.
