I have a problem with flat stools and have for many years . The best stool I can get is usually something like a 1/2 in. plank looking stool. Most stools are 1/4 inch or so in thickness. Literally looks like a milled piece of wood. I had hemoroid surgery about 20 years ago and it was a severe case with lots of cutting. I think that may have been the cause but I'm not sure.
The problem is that I cant eliminate properly because of the back pressure.
I also have crohns and have had pancolitus twice and just had it recently.
darn near killed me.
When my colon starts acting up, it always starts at the rectum with minor blood and pus. Then it progresses in weeks/months up the colon. (this time meds could not stop it)
The flat stool then becomes ultra flat like a potatoe chip and then very little can be eliminated and it just makes everything worse.
I've only been out of the hospital for a few weeks and they did ct, colonoscopy etc. and also said my prostate was Ok in size.
I've asked GI dr about it and they dont really have an opinion.
To me, it seems that it always starts with the rectum and then proceeds upward in the colon till it runs its course. Do any of you think having that restriction of the rectum could be causing the crohns flares? Also, what do you think could be causing the flat stools/ restriction? Should I possible see a rectal specialist?
Even on best days its always a force to eliminate and the stools are always flat as a board.
Thanks in advance, Billy
