The biopsy results came out finally. It read: Mild chronic non-specific ileocolitis with edemateous lamina propria throughout the obtained ileal and colonic specimens. My GI said that that was OK and it signals remission. My ESR lab results were elevated, too but CRP was negative and fecal calprotectin was 80 so he said I shouldn't worry. I still have nocturnal diarrhea and rectal pain but he refused to let me return to Remicade especially that the biopsy results is mild non-specific ileocolitis. He put me again on Imuran and Budesonide.

It sounds like you're coping with minimal Crohn's activity. I might question what's the best treatment option to keep things as quiet as possible. Is he worried that you might have antibodies since you've been away from Remicade. Why not another anti-TNF then? Hopefully, the Imuran will be enough for you. Maybe your GI doesn't want to over medicate. Keep us posted.

73monte, thank you. I've been only 45 days away from Remicade but he doesn't think that the activity of my disease now requires taking an anti-TNF medicine. He said that we will keep an eye and see how things will go on.

Well, I would ask him, why your Crohn's activity is where it should be. How does he think it got that way? It would seem to me that the Remicade was doing it's job, so why stop it?

Yes, standard practice is that you need to stay on remicade to say in remission. Some doctors say you can try to stop after 2 years of no symptoms but there is no real data on this and definitely warrants questioning this decision further.

73monte and Lab, thank you. I'm waiting, too and keeping my fingers crossed hoping that I don't flare up soon. I've followed-up with my current GI for 12 years and know his character very well. So, I have no other option other than waiting.
