Things have deteriorated lately. This excruciating pain of the intestines persists and of course it is accompanied by sometimes diarrhea and vomiting/nausea. So, when I saw my GI almost 2 weeks ago, he ordered an MR enterocolonography as I can’t tolerate drinking mannitol. However, the radiology center called me saying that given that I have chronic Crohn’s, I should have a CT enterocolonography and I have to drink mannitol. I saw my GI and he contacted the radiologist, who insisted that I have to take mannitol either ways whether I have an MR enterocolonography or a CT enterocolonography. So, my GI decided I should have an ultrasound to investigate whether there is any inflammation in the intestines which colonoscopy couldn’t reach. Is using ultrasound that effective and can it detect inflammation?
