Use of Xanax-Questions

I suffer from anxiety and depression and read so many horror stories about using xanax on the web....I have tried 3 different ad's, none of which of helped much. The xanax is the only thing that is really helping. I try to use only .5 mg twice a day, usually only .5 once a day. Is this highly addictive and should I not be using it? I'm continuing to try to find (with my APRN) to find an effective ad. Thanks for any comments.

Hi Karlie,

I have been taking xanax for 20 years and it helps me a lot. I don't know if I am addicted to it or not, but wouldn't want to go with out it. I also take .5mg twice a day and that works fine for me. So I dont' think addiction would be anything to worry about if it helps you.

I have been on it for 10 months. I worry about it because I struggle with an addiction and both me and my psych watch it very closely. My script tells me to take .5 mg 4 times a day as needed. I only have to take 2 on the weekends and my work is he!! and so I usually end up taking 3 during the week. I also find that when I exercise, I ride a bicycle about 100 miles a week, I am far less dependent on it. Good luck and hope you find the answers you are looking for.

dear karlie,

i used xanax for awhile, and it has been a awhile since i have used it. xanax is very useful in assisting with anxiety, panic disorders and here in oz it is dispensed mainly for generalized anxiety disorder. still dispensed for shorter periods for the later. i found xanax highly useful, and highly addictive. this was because i was on a much higher dose. most effective is xanax when combined with therapy. all the best to you.
