Does Music Help with healing my Depression

Everytime I want to go back to that dark place I always turn music on. My mind just keeps running me down I keep thinking about my family and it just makes me sad. I have got no cellphone anymore to talk to my girlfriends that understand what is going on in my life and been there for years but now I got noone to talk with. I am dealing with alot and I just want to scream and yell Miss being able to go out and see my friends. But got no contact with out having a phone. I really don't where else to go and turn except you guys. Alexis

How come you don't have a phone anymore? Forgive me if you already told us. Know that we are all your friends here Alexis. Keep posting. It does help.

I have a cellphone that is all, Had to stop paying because my credit is getting bad and I got and try and fix that I am a bit stressed and just sad because I want my friends and lost there numbers :( Alexis

Yes, music is actually a "coping skill" it can bring you UP when you down and it can bring you DOWN when you are MANIC.

So crank it up and have some fun with it.

Listening to Christian Music puts me in the best mood ever! I also like listening to it when I go walking. It's amazing the therapy you can get from music and its free!

I listen to alot of music because that is what calms me down even if I am upset about something I just put the music on and block out everything. Is that bad or good not sure anymore :( Alexis

Alexis,

as long as you do not use it as a "long term" escape and a constant escape it is a good thing, I think.

We do have to face our "stuff" and work on it you know.

If you need to block out a bad situation going on in the house or something similar then that is also a good thing, I would say.

Keep the balance in your life as much as you can Alexis, this is the key to keeping your healing journey moving forward.

I love listening to music I do it everyday. I am just sitting here having a tea but got go get some groceries soon running out of fruit and stuff to drink. I have my friend he is the strong man that carries the groceries home as I have Cerebral palsy it affects my left hand and leg got it a 6 months from lack of oxygen in the brain plus I was born at 5 and half months 14 weeks premature I was so tiny my mom said I could fit in the palm of your hand. I am lucky to be here I almost died 5 times. I am a miracle Baby that what my mom said.

I agree with you Carl there are songs that I smile too cry and just get angry I just find music soothes my mind when I want to yell and scream I just hold it in and go into the bedroom we have and sit in there and just want to be alone and think about my life and where I am now and where I want to be in a few yrs.
