Yes, it is tough for partners. Ask my husband, poor guys didn't sign up for this.
Depression support groups help for both of you.
Mention coping skills to her in a few weeks. If she does not know about them, have her ask the therapist. The skills help get us through the darkest of times and need to be done daily so we get strong. There are many skills, not all work for everyone, so it is trial and error.
I use, controlled breathing, meditation, art, teaching myself piano, walking, reading and crocheting...
