Hi, All -
I've been on Wellbrutrin XL 300 MG + Celexa 15 MG for over a decade. It took three years to find the right "mix" for me, so imagine my utter dismay (and now despair) over having to give up the Celexa that has served me so well during many of life's ups and downs.
I'll try to keep this breif, but basically I am seriously ill with physical issues due to Lupus, and I ended up taking an experimental drug for esophogeal motility disorder that may have interacted with the Celexa and given me seritonin syndrome. Sigh.
My psychiatrist had me go to the ER and immediately discontinue the Celexa -- cold turkey, no taper -- and we are still awaiting the results of the seritonin serum blood test results. So, it's now been day 8 without Celexa. It's likely that even if I don't have seritonin syndrome, it may be in my best "physical" interest moving forward to steer away from any SSRIs to avoid future interactions with future lupus medications.
So ... I guess I'm writing to ask folks to please (please!!!) respond and let me know (1) If you've ever had to give up an SSRI cold turkey - even though we all know we are not supposed to. (2) What type of withdrawl symptoms you had? (3) How long did your withdrawl symptoms last.
I expected my current LOW mood and crying jags, especially given the current state of my health, but what I'm having trouble teasing out is neurological and physcial symtoms from SSRI withdrawl vs those neuro and physcial aliments I already had!
I thank you in advance for taking the time to read and respond to my post. What a ridiculous time to have to stop taking Celexa!
Best regards,
Nina2 (there's already a "Nina")
