Hey guys... I am alive!! I did not personally get flooded... but let me tell you. It was quite a thing to watch. I had to miss my physical therapy appointment at 6:00 am because I could not see through the rain to drive there. The part of town the office is in was completely inaccessible.
My coworker didn't make it to work because she drove for an hour and got about
1 mile from her house... so she just stayed home. None of the kids went to school. They canceled most schools in my part of town. They were out playing in the rain all day. The parks that are down below land level were full and people were kayaking and swimming.
The worst part... the park next to my house is still full to the brim (no drainage)

. The playground is covered up past the top of the swings and the wood chips from the playground are just floating around. West Nile breeding ground... yuck.
As for me, I've come down with a cold (I only get one a year) and we had a death in the family yesterday after many months of struggles with in/out of the hospital. Complications of Alzheimer's. Everyone is doing pretty well with it. Making funeral plans now. I was not very close to her later in my life, but spent a lot of time with her when I was a kid, which I can't really remember very well.
On a positive note - we are moving to our dream neighborhood next month! So excited. The dog will have her own backyard, my partner will have her dream tile floor and I will have my own personal gym! So it worked out well for everyone. I wonder how keaz is doing with the floods?? Chele, thanks for thinking of me!
