Ooooo, I love orchids! Unfortunately, my cats seem to think the planting medium is cat litter! How exciting for you that they are blooming again!

We had wind here today, too. It so gets on my nerves! I have a couple of wind chimes out still. They help me deal with wind...otherwise they would be silent. Just as cold really bothers me, but without it, bulbs won't bloom in Spring. Balancing the negative with the positive.

At least it was sunny most of the day. I put the 'new' cushions on the patio chairs to inspire me to work on getting the rest cleaned up out there. The 'vinca major' really needed a good cut back. I even pulled alot of it out. It has become a weed in my yard! Lo and behold! I have more crocus than I thought! They were being covered by the vinca leaves! Be forewarned, if you add this plant to your hanging pots, don't let it touch the ground or it will root! Back when I moved here, the yard was bare. A 'nice' neighbor offered me some vinca as a ground cover...what an understatement! The good news is it does grow quickly and stays green, even in winter. The ivy creeping over from the next door neighbors is just as troublesome. In the back of the property, the honeysuckle that started next door is taking over my fence!

I've sighted several hyainths coming up out in the main bed, too! Yes indeed, I should have a lovely, colorful, scented display this Spring!

I also strung the new lights around the patio after I added some single squares on two sides to enlarge the seating area. I can't wait till dusk to see how it all looks. There is snow in our forecast so the cushions will have to be put away again, but I'm too impatient to wait!

There's still more that needs to be done. Each little bit that I can accomplish now means that I will be able to sit back and enjoy it that much sooner.

I've been feeling kind of down lately. We had lots of cloudy weather, maybe that is the cause.
Sorry about your trees, Karen. That is upsetting! I hope that they plant something new for you.
Myself, sounds like you are really busy with work. Hope it is going well.
Pitmom, I like wind chimes too. Finally put ours outside.i want to get our back porch spruced up too. I think I would like to look out at a more interesting space.

A few years ago, the Landlord had all new water mains installed throughout the trailer park. I had 2, 50ft Juniper trees that shaded my home all summer long, just outside the one side of my home. Sadly, the roots were so damaged by the trenching that they both had to be cut down because they were too unstable. Now, I roast!

Nature, however, is coming to the rescue. I have a small 'forest' of sumac trees, volunteering for shade duty. They are only about 2 ft tall now, but grow so quickly, it won't be long before I will enjoy summer shade once again on that side of the house. The best news...they are deciduous. In winter, the sun will help warm my home while in summer, the sun will be blocked.

The white and red tulips are nearly done. The yellow ones are just starting to open. We got about 4 inches of snow yesterday. A nice insulating blanket so that all that was starting won't be damaged by lows in the teens! We're expecting a whopper of a storm on Tuesday...5-12 inches possibly.

I've heard that a snow that comes this time of year is called an Onion Snow. Something about when onion sets are planted out in fields. As far as I'm concerned, the name fits, cause it's making me want to cry!

Cold = Pain. Worse yet, my furnace is acting up. Sometimes it fires on it's own, sometimes I have to take the doors off and start it manually. I'm terrified that it won't fire during the night. It was quite cold when I got out of bed this morning. Sure enough, I had to start it manually. Since then, it's been behaving...so far. Think I'll plug in the electric oil filled radiators tonight, just to be on the safe side.

Trina , I hope that you are feeling better now. It sounds like you went through a lot. I am always wiped out after a bad migraine or fibro flare.

Had a rough day myself today. Physically hurting, and my spirits are very low. Some interactions have been strained lately, and it has triggered some things for me. Trying just to take one day at a time, breathe, try to stay mindful. But it is so hard sometimes.

I hope that this is a better week for us all. I hope to go to a plant sale this week and get some new plants. That should help me feel better.

nice to heat from you. I am doing better, pain level is higher than usual, another storm on its way.

sent another message to neuro via 'patient portal'. high tech these days. I like it better than waiting for call back. Still working on tweaking meds that Jefferson Headache center was throwing at the problem.

I emphasize with you. So hard to keep our spirits up with the pain levels.

The only thing I know to do is self sooth.

Fine line there too, it can turn to self-pity if I stay in bed. So couch time, hot chocolate. Thin man movies.

I would love to go buy some plants but, the weather is just too crazy. I did some weeding and clearing of dead stuff. But I can not get to into the gardening. A good frost and the snow storm coming will kill anything I expose or plant for now.

Hello all. We're bracing for a 'blizzard' here. Bought all of my 'storm food' and secured the patio furniture. Neighbor just got a wood burning stove installed and has offered to loan me her kerosene heater if we lose power. Has me less anxious about it all now. I don't really mind snow...but the wind...ugh.

I had to reschedule my pain management appointment. The doctor called ME! I don't think that has ever happened before. Just one more reason I really like this practice!

Daughter also had to reschedule her appointment for follow up after her carpal tunnel surgery.

This one yellow tulip is doing wonders for me. Amazing how one single bloom in the house can do as much as a whole bouquet! The anemones that are just beginning to bloom don't look any the worse for wear after the melting of the last snow. Hope not too much gets dumped on us this time.

Myself, I may have to get some seed starting tips from you! I usually buy transplants, but this year, I'm going to try starting my own seeds. It's a bit of a challenge, with 8 cats climbing across every horizontal surface! I hope to be able to set up the greenhouse shelving after this snow melts.

Our blizzard has not materialized here. We have rain. I'm actually a bit disappointed. With snow, I'd have something to do...shovel. With rain, there's nothing to do. With shovelling, I'd see my neighbors. With rain, we're all stuck in our own homes. With snow, the dogs would go out and play. With rain, they too are stuck inside. How they 'hold it' is beyond me! At least I bought them new knuckle bones to occupy them for a while.

We still have strong winds and the possibility of power outages. This is my biggest concern. I have plenty of solar lights if needed. Cell phone charged. Gas in the truck. Food that doesn't need cooking or that could be cooked on the grill if need be. Trying to keep my mind occupied. Will probably grab one of my books and try to 'lose myself' for a few hours.
