HI Rich,
I believe Holidays are what we make of them, and should be observed in a way that allows us to contemplate our gratitude and contentments.
However, that may be done.
Not respecting someones way of celebrating or observing a holiday I think is cause for a lot of anxiety of the 'season"
This is the first year in my life, yes, my whole life [I am 56] That I truely looked forward Thanksgiving, joyfully made the fixings, when to mother-in-laws happily set the table as a surprise for her. [she is in a wheel chair]
John cooked the turkey breast.
Just the 3 of us, and it was lovely.
I was me, no planning on what I could do to get my family to like me. This was a constant effort my whole life. Only realized in 2012, that I didn't need to do that, that I was enough and it was there issue.
Rich, being who we are is self-love, kindness and compassion. That leads us to love other people and spreading tolerance.
I have been working on self-compassion for just over a year, I can say for certain, that I can see the difference in me and how people respond to me.
I hold my head up know, literally. Make eye contact. A whole new world is opening up slowing.
I wish you peace and strength.
The same for you notsosicklygirl
