@Susie, I call 'em 'drive by posters' - one shot of angst, and they're on to the next thing.
What I have always found HW good for was adding a human element to chronic disease. Face it, technical information is available to anyone who knows how to use Google. For instance, any search engine can tell you about the things that are good to do if you're depressed: exercise better, eat better, sleep better, love better, socialize better, meditate better, blah blah blah blah blah. What HW members generally do, however, is respond with "I've been there, I did that, and this is how it worked for me." It's that type of response that fosters a longer term relationship, and that's why HW has been successful.
But yeah, the interface SUCKS!
I've enjoyed watching the change in user types over the years on the Depression board. I think we're seeing far more complicated people than we ever have before. People like SMG, for instance, who are trying to figure out some very fundamental, existential things. The broken hearted have started to migrate here, and that makes sense: people diagnosed with depression have a world of information at their fingertips, people going through a breakup, especially a first one, have no idea why they hurt so much.
