Just read a story on the net (get pocket.com) which stressed a lot of the things that I’ve read here.
The story stated that at least 50 percent of protein should come from vegetable sources, getting other proteins from mostly fatty fish.
Fatty fish is found in grocery stores, and is oily fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines, mackerel and trout, net says. (Tuna fish salad comes to mind and I put sardines on the tomato, lettuce and celery salad.)
Fatty fish have omega-3 fatty acids -- good fats unlike the bad saturated fat you find in most meats.
While reducing intake of starchy carbs such as pasta and potatoes, the story noted that older people who eat too many carbs are more likely to have reduced thinking. Exercise is also important.
I also was reminded today of the power of being around people. I hadn’t walked in several days, and in about 3 weeks before that, with no desire to do so. After a couple of such contacts today, I walked around the block on adrenalin alone.
I do the same thing at the grocery store. They don't just have food at the grocery store.
