 Hi,

  My rheumy gave two introductry samples of savella (one month supply). The dosage

  starts out at 12.5 mgs. and goes up to 100 mgs. I am up to 100 mgs a day, no bad

  side effects.

  I was wondering, how long do you have to be on it before you get any pain relief ?

I just got rx'd this too. I think my doc said pain releif comes in the 3rd week. I could be wrong. She also said that there would be a week of nausea and to try to push through it it will go away.


i need to pick mine up at the pharmacy. The comapny has coupons for a free month starter pack.

I never did get any relief from savella. Had to go off of it.

 merrygirl, I will be into my 3rd week taking Savella on Tuesday. So far no nausea.

 Hoping you don't have any bad side effects either, Just hope the pain relief kicks

 in soon.

Crazykitty I was on it about 6 weeks. It made me more aggitated and had no affect on my symptoms. I had a bad problem with sleeping.

I'm back on Celexa and was just put on Neurontin. These seem to be helping me. At least Im sleeping again and it's a restful sleep and I'm certain the sleep is helping ;)

As for Savella...well meds are different for everyone. Just have to try it and see if it is right for you.

I am on day five on Savella and I am not sure if the side effects I am having are from the savella or going off of Lexapro. I was only on 10mg of Lexapro, so my dr said to go to 5mg for one week and then start the Savella.

I am going to try to hang in there. I hope the pain relief kicks in for you this week crazykitty!

Has anyone else switched from an ssri to savella and had luck?

Been on it for a few months and it doesnt affect my pain at all. Only makes me more awake during the day.

I was on Savella for about 2 wks, but then it nearly gave me a stroke so yeah.... the side effects get worse the longer I was on it, and it seemed to make my pain worse. But since we all react to meds differently, I wish you the best of luck and pray it doesn't make you as sick as it did me.

I never made it to the full dose, kept myself at half doses the second week.  I could not handle the side effects, dizziness and actually swaying like I was drunk.  I think after only 2 weeks I am going through withdrawl. 

I guess I can say that another med has bitten the dust.

I don't know how this post appeared, I wrote it a year ago!

Yes, I've been on Savella for a year now, without any bad side effects. It
did take a couple of months to kick in though and I have found it to help some.

Still wondering how this post appeared????

Robyn, I did a forum search on savella and thought that this was a recent topic, that is how it popped back up.  I am glad that savella is working for you without horrendous side effects
