Hi everyone!

  So I decided that it was time to finally try something new and started lyrica today.  I am to start 50mg at night for one week and then titrate up to 50 twice a day.   What kind of doses are you guys on?  How long did it take to work? Does it work?  Did you like it?  I am trying to be hopeful.  I am already on several meds for my headaches -

-verapamil, -frova, -arthrotec, -zonegram, -cymbalta.

Unrelated, have you noticed that your symptoms are worse with weather changes?  I live in NC and if it is raining or cold - things are worse.  But if it is hot and humid - I feel alot better - the hotter the better :)

I tried Lyrica quite a while ago and it did not set well with me. I'm one of those who had lots of side effects. I do hope that you get lots of relief from the medication tho...many people do. Another thing I've read about Lyrica and Cymbalta is that for some people they will work very well for a given time...like 6 months to 2 years...and then just quit. Strange stuff but if you can have any pain relief at all...take it!!

Yes, the weather does make a huge difference to many people with fibromyalgia. I'm one also. I seem to have more pain when the weather is changing, like when the barometer is moving, rather than when the weather is stable. For me I do worst in hot weather than colder, but I'm just weird that way.

I wish you luck with the new med...Keep us posted. We want to know and truly care plus others reading can learn from your experience.

I have been on Lyrica for almost a year now.For a couple months I wnt off it thinking it was not helping...I was WRONG shocked I went back on it and recently my new doc upped the dose to 150 in am and then 150 in the pm.  Tomorrow I start cymbalta as well.  It seems to be helping me and I have not noticed any side effects.

How does the Cymbalta work for you?

Oh and btw, the Lyrica WILL make you spacey, but it will go away...I promise.  Just keep with it.

Lyrica was a tough drug for me. As Missy said it will make you feel loopy for a while but it does go away.. I was on 300 mg a day, and it took me a month to titrate up to that dose, so you might want to go slower than you are especially if you have to work.

I had to stop Lyrica cause it was giving me suicidal thoughts. So please very careful of that. As soon as I stopped it it went away.

Cymbalta was pretty good for me, especially for my depression. I dont think it did much to h elp my pain. Now I am on Savella day 5 and I think my pain is better already, but the neausea is significant. IT is supposed to go away though. But I am on phenergan in the meantime.

Hoping the Lyrica works for you! I tried Cymbalta and now I'm on Savella.


As far as the weather goes, I hurt in the heat and the cold. My body is like a barometer,
any drastic change and I really feel it.

Hi,

Definitely have seen the pain worsen for me spending the summer in my NH home. July was rainy as all get out and I suffered. So far August has been beautiful and I feel better. Why does the weather affect us like this? Do we have an arthritic condition just without the damage arthritis causes? When I am in Florida the storms and humidity wreak havoc with me. Shall we all move to Arizona, maybe we can get a group rate for movers?

Whippet, I was born in Raleigh and lived there much of my life. Love NC!!!

Hi, I went on lyrica two weeks ago. I take 50mg with the evening meal and 50 mg at bedtime. I'll stay on this dosage for about two more weeks then it will be 75mg evening and 75mg at bedtime. If need be my doctor will increase the dosage of 200mg daily. It can be increased up to 600 mg daily. The doctor also told me that it can take up to two months for lyrica to start working.

So far, I have had no side effects on lyrica, it helps me sleep but hasn't kicked in for the pain.

Also, thankful we have not had any hurricanes this year!

I have been on cymbalta for about 2 years and it I started it for depression and HA relief. I think that it helps. It is hard to get off though and need to titrate off slowly if you do not like it. Good luck with the cymbalta. I'll keep you guys posted about the lyrica.

I hope you have good luck with the lyrica, my experience was terrible, i had nausea, dizziness, grogginess, and made me very moody,
i was 75mg once a day. i had to go to the doc to be taken off because i was afraid to drive and was messing up orders on major accounts ( not good when i cost them time)

but i know lots of people it worked for

I have had good luck with the lyrica. However, I don't take it in the am. It makes me too sleepy. I take 150 mgs. once a day, at bedtime. Helps me sleep too.
