Anyone else have a family full of fibro?

Just curious. My sis was diagnosed years ago. I was diagnosed six years ago, and we *suspect* my brother has it, as well. He does not want an official diagnosis, due to his line of work. We also *suspect* Fibro could explain a lot about our late father's behavior.

Anyone else?

My sister has it....she was diagnosed before I was. I think that some of my cousins have it too.

Interestingly, our family is also FULL of autoimmune diseases: lupus, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, Graves disease, Addison's disease, celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis......you name it we've got it!

Interesting. My boyfriend always says my family is the low end of the medical gene pool. Not only do we all have different kinds of IBDs, but we also have bad teeth and weak eyes. Oh, yes, and Fibro.

And quick wits, wild imaginations, and great grins. When you got it, you got it.

I agree in my family my mother has it has as long as I can remember, I have fibro my son 25 has it he was 14 when he was told he had it. Our yiungest son also has it and so does our daughter. And our oldest son 27 had all the signs growing up. Then 3 of my cousins also have it and they are sisters. So as far as I can see it runs in families.

Myself, I'm with you. :) My family has always made fun of ourselves and say that our familial line is "genetically spoiled" because of our multiple medical symptoms. One of my older sisters has had fibro for 15+ years, I came down with it and was diagnosed in February. In talking about it with my sister we strongly suspect our mother had it as well; in addition to other classic symptoms, I remember she would have to suddenly drop to the couch and sleep in the afternoons, the same way I have to! We have almost everything in our gene pool, including heart disease and cancer on both sides, bad teeth and weak eyes, and rheumatoid arthritis on both sides.

ya me to .... my grandmother on my Dad's side. had it. but they did not have a name for it back then....

 

I have it and my daughter shows symptoms.

 

also I belive one of  my brothers also has it.

Pretty sure my mom had it...there was always icy hot on the end table and a heating pad in every room.  Every time I walked in the house she would ask me to rub her sore aching muscles.  Lot's of auto immune stuff in my family...RA, Hasimoto's thyroid, psoriosis, to name a few.  I'll feel blessed if all I have is fibro.

All the older generation is gone in my family and if any of them had fibro they were never dxd to my knowledge so I am the first to be dxd with it. I have an uncle that died from an auto-immune disease and he is the only other one that had auto-immune disease so I don't know why I was the lucky one that got fibro and auto-immune problems.

 

My mother may have had a light case of fibro but she was never one to open up to anyone and blamed her aches and pains on old age. She died almost 10 yrs ago as the results of a fall down a flight of stairs as a healthy 75 yr old, at least it seemed she was.
