Does any one have poor balance in the morning? At times when I get up to go to the restroom I bounce off walls due to poor balance. It's scary.

I know what you are talking about
. One time, I had talked to my husband on the phone and then laid down for about
20 mins. Well, I had fallen asleep, so when he called my name, I jumped out of bed, stumbled, tripped on the space heater and slammed my arm into the door jamb leaving a huge bruise. I am pretty uncoordinated all the time, but it is worse when I first get out of bed.

I guess I am one of the fortunate ones... no troubles with balance.

yes, I fell down the basement stairs used my arm against the cement wall to break the fall (it all happened so fast) talk about
pain, the ambulance people need to get free tickets to heaven. I was crying don't move me, she talked soft and injected me with something maybe morphine and they got me on the stretcher and into the hospital. beautiful sweet people. doc told my neighbor my arm was mangled. but God is good we made it through, I fall at night or whenever I am tired, needless to say I am careful going down the basement stairs to do the laundry!!

I definitely have balance problems but especially in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning. I now get out of bed with my arms stretch out in front of me and to my sides. This helps balance a little better but also helps me from walking straight into door frames/walls. I figure it's better for my arms to run into those things first and spare my nose :) If I just try to get up and go, I'm the pinball between the walls.

I have found that by having thingsset in certain places in our bedroom I can stop a heap of falls night and day. I am told I am just not looking where I was going. That is far from the truth I need to watch evry single step I take as my general balance is shot, gone

Looks like we all have lots of company. I never had balance or falling problems my entire life..that is until fibro. I also take pain meds 24/7 and that 'could' attribute to the falling thing. But, personally I think it's more the fibro or something else since my body is very used to the meds...who knows? But doc has recorded many of my falls that I tell him about
. Lots of bruises and lumps but at least no broken bones.
I'm like Rose...I go down stairs very aware and carefully!! Even then I've taken a tumble...<sheesh> Rose, I am very thankful you were alright after your bad fall. What a tragedy that could have been.
Warm hugs and let's hold on to each other so we don't fall..OK?

I have trouble first thing in the morning too. Very frustrating, after years of dancing and gymnastics to have no balance. Fibro is definitely teaching me how to accept things I do not like.
