I was off to see this DOC who was going to do all these great things for me. My gp SAID NOW REMEMBER TO TELL HIM ALL THE MEDS YOU TAKE AND QUESTIONS YOU HAVE FOR HIM.

What a joke, it went like this [my DD came she can remember things I can't] sit in that chair no not the other one it will break. who told you had fibro?

 I answered

They where wrong you have never had that.

Well a lot of other GPs have said the same thing

Don't worry I will fix you up;

He had me lift my arms as far as I could which was not far.

Yes see that is not fibro.

Come with me I will fix you up.

Well I wil not go into what went on except I ended up in argony, this included 4 injections in my back I have no idea what they where.

He then told me with 4 more visits he could fix what ever he had decided was wrong with me as well as the fibromyalgia which I had because I was so sore to the touch. I would be totally healed.

What type of Doc was he a BOWEN THERPIST.

it might work for some people but all h did was for me was make my flare worse.

Now My dear dear GP is seeing me first thing Monday morning if we are not still flooded in and I am going to ask for some real pain meds and am taking my DD to back up what he said.

What a joke

Sounds like you were sent to a fraud.  Anyone that says they can cure fibro isn't being honest.  They are scam artists in my opinion.  We have plenty come on with these miracle cures.  They are ready to clean out your wallet, too.  They get your hopes up and then you are dashed.  Remember, the doctors that are spending their lives studying this illness are still searching for it's cause!  How can you have a cure when the cause is not known?  Be careful out there.

 

I hope you feel better, Kathy.  That was a terrible experience for you.  I definitely would report it.  Your GP was correct in what he told you to tell the other doctor.  He probably didn't know what a charlatan he was.

Hi Kathy. Sorry that you are hurting so much after your treatment. I did some research on Bowen and I didn't read anything about any type of injections being part of that technique. Sounds like this guy was doing something more than just Bowen. I have active release therapy (ART) done to me on a regular basis which is somewhat similar to what I read about Bowen. My chiropractor does it but he never stated it would cure anything including my fibro. It has helped me a lot though but I have lots of orthopedic issues to go along with fibro. But since those ortho pain issues have gotten better because of ART, my fibro has also gotten better since they feed off of each other.

I guess I'm telling you this because I hope you don't dismiss all therapists who do manual therapies as quacks. They are just like any other profession, some are good and some are not. I hope your flare ends quickly.

owie!!! I read up a little about the Bowen Theory and it sounds like it would hurt, really bad!!

Well where theso called Doc injected me is now so sore I am almost in tears.
I am seing my Dr today that is if we are not flooded in. I will be seeing him to ask for stronger pain killers. Also to see a REALspecialist.So he can't argue I took it all wrong as in what he said to me my DD who went in with me is going to the GP with me.Who has ever heard of a Doc who tells you not to lean on his table because it would fall down,
The pain is so bad everywhere hurts, the headache is almost blinding, my lower back feels like he put knives in it. So as soon as I can ge to see him he is going to know just what I think of the[we would say Quack] I have no idea what you would say to insult him.
Now to top everything of we are having major flooding here, we should be be ok but our neighbours will all go under.
And I will sit back and watch every move people my health is more important then impressing any one

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I've had lots of health problems, starting when I was a teen, and one thing I've learned (the hard way, of course) is to never have any treatment done without going home and researching it and thinking about it. I won't even take any new medication without doing the same. I've had so many courses of treatment recommended for me that I, after I did some research, decided definitely weren't for me. And, I've also been in your shoes; going ahead with a treatment that was recommended for me only to find that it did more harm.

I hope your GP can help you recover from this and get you on the right track. I agree with Sherrine, be careful out there. Some doctors are quacks, and some think they are helping, only to make things worse. Just remember that you are in charge of your body, and you have the right to decide (after careful thought and research) what you will and won't try, do, take, or participate in.

There is an old English proverb: "One doctor makes work for another. " Unfortunately, that is often true.

Prayers for a recovery from this treatment and guidance for your next step.
