Hi Everyone,

I feel that Fibro is a dead end ilness. I hope I'm wrong. Has anybody out there gotten any better? Or, has anyone healed? If so, how did you do it, please share. I'm so desperate some times; I just don't know how much longer I can take the horrible pain, I'm very distressed. cry

With me... I have my good days, and then I have my bad days! I know it can be very difficult at times, and in my experience... doctors, or atleast the ones I've seen do not know too much about it! That or they dont care??????

Dear Valentine...I wish I could tell you there is a cure for fibro but that would be a lie....what I can tell you is...you can learn to live with it.

All of us are so differant...not all meds work the same way for all people, it is truly trial and error. For fibro, I've been taking Savella 50 mgs 2x daily, and use a muscle relaxer, Flexeril when needed. I take a good multi vitamin, and take sipplements of vitamin D3 and Vitamin B-12.

Exercise is very important, so I walk daily and do gentle stretching throughout the day. I also do deep breathing exercises, meditation and use visulization to help with pain and stress.

It is also very important to find things that you enjoy to distract pain. Most importantly you have to do what you can to help yourself daily...try to keep a positive attitude does help.

I have found you can still enjoy life no matter what is thrown your way, you have to believe it is possible for it to happen :)

Valentine, I'm so sorry you are feeling so much pain ... please go see your doctor, or go to emergency at the hospital. It sounds like you are having an awful time tolerating it and you need to get some relief.

valentine - I am happy to tell you that I have improved with my fibro. It was here on this forum where I got the treatment ideas. I never felt so better. My depression is gone and my pain is under control. I still have some joints that ache, but it doesn't stop me from getting up for the day. I took some classes on anxiety,depression and how to manage pain. It made a huge difference for me. I educated myself about fibro. I tried some treatments that others were using. Everybody is so different with fibo because most of us have numerious other health problems. I too suffer from numerious health problems, but for some reason I am doing well. I am not going to complain. I use to be sick and unable to get out of bed. So dont give up on yourself. I hope you will find that joy and comfortable life again.

I have also impoved with my fibro, BUT I think since I stopped working and stay at home now that has helped the most. Low stress, pacing myself, supportive family. It has taken me a year to get to where I am in physical activity. My fibro came on kinda fast and it actually became really bad. I didn't even have the energy to get up and just walking to the bathroom taking a shower was all I could do on some days...then again some days didn't even feel like showering..to fatigued and to much pain. I am not on any fibro meds, I started a few but then stopped. I wanted to do natural things to help my pain.
Such as resting, plenty of rest. Hot baths, or showers, heating pads or rice bags, and saying NO..lol. Thankfully my kids are older, (late teens) so I didn't have to run around after them and my husband is VERY supportive of me, and he even gets mad and defends me if someone says something about fibro in a negative way. I don't know what I would do without him...or without God. Prayer, lots of prayer, and learning to lean on God because it's all in his hands.
Even though I am doing better than I was a year ago, (I still can't do to much either) I know that anything could trigger the active monster again. I have now began to have chemical sensitivities that throw me into flares...but they are not as bad as in the beginning. Hopefully it will never be that bad again.

I don't know if I'm better a GP years ago told me it was posible to go into remission which I am at present.

No major pain and I am taking NO MEDS which is just as well as I am allergic to most of them anyway.

I am sleeping ok but if I get over tired I will get sore but that is all it is is sore.

No I do not work, but I volenteer at several places several times a week for a whole day at one place.

Who knows with this illness next week I could be back in bed unable to get out. It seems none of us are the same and the illness is different within each of us on a daily basis.

Valentine, as its been mentioned there are good days and bad days. But yes you will learn do deal with the pain and be able to live a normal life. I take Savella 50mg 2x a day.

You've gotten great information from our members.  Fibro waxes and wanes.  Also, you need to try different things to see what will help you be in control of the pain.  Once you find that, you will do far better!

These guys are right, everybody is different and we all have different experiences. And from that we learn and grow. I am doing better than I was at the beginning. In the beginning, I was right in bed. The thing that really helps is to keep living. Move forward everyday and try not to think about it too much. The more you think about it, the worse that you feel. Take life one day at a time. Go to a doctor and get a dx. Then learn to manage the pain and fatigue. It can get frustrating because you may have to try a few differen approaches before you find what is right for you. I hope that you feel better soon.

everyone is right. I would be alot better if I kept my insomnia in check and handled my stress.

Not only does it wax and wane, but it seemed to get much worse going into menopause. As others have mentioned, supplements do help, like magnesium, CoQ10, vitamin D3, calcium, stretching, and exercise. Meditation also helps and if you are depressed with anxiety, seeking a good therapist can help too. Anxiety and depression can increase the pain.
