Hi everyone!

I have been just diagnosed with Fibro... after 18 years of hell.. countless doctors, people telling me I was crazy. I knew I had it, but no one would listen.. I want to share my experience and help anyone that I can.. If you have questions please ask.


Now on to getting treatment and feeling better ( PRAYING!!!!! )

I was just diagnosed this month too and am new to the forum as well. Finally having an answer is a great feeling but I want some relief too. I was just put on Elavil (Amitryptaline) last month and Lyrica this month. I have been taking (Dilaudid) for about 6 months now when it's really needed.
Not feeling any better at all. Hopefully it will help eventually.
I hope you get some relief too! :)

I am literally on my way to meet my fibro doctor to see what meds I am going on... I just want to sleep and be usefull... 18 years of doing nothing and making excuses has a really bad effect on the human brain/body...

Good luck and feel good. Keep a young mind and we will make it through anything!!!

Hi Fibroninja and AMKM89 and welcome.  I'm so glad you found us and joined the family.  It is very difficult to get a diagnosis but at least now more doctors are realizing this is a true illness.  Used to be the REALLY didn't listen.  At least you know you are not crazy.

 

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  Good starting links are called Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  You just might see yourself there.  All the links are good so please check them out.  Knowledge is power.

Hi Fibroninja! I was just diagnosed a couple days ago. I am learning and soaking in as much info as I can. I'm going back to fibro 101 and look up these flares I keep seeing people talk about. I've been in pain for so long, I didn't know there was such a thing as a flare up. Hoping my flare up goes away soon!!! I think there's such a fine balance we have to find between trying to do stuff, then paying for it later, but we can't just sit around all day either. Here's to us beating fibro DOWN!

Welcome fibroninja- I know you must feel relieved that somebody was listening to you. You might find some great ideas on managing your fibro here. I have learn so much in the past 2 years that I am so thankful for finding this site. I still run into Dr's that don't believe in fibro fog or other symptoms. I finally got on a fibro regimen that works for me. I hope you will find some relief soon.

THANK YOU FOR THE WELCOMING... I Really need the support! The whole thing putting a diagnoses on what I have is really quite overwhelming.. I cannot believe I am now going to be on the road to getting better.

I am going to be open... I used to live in Connecticut.. and Moved to Charlotte... I have been passed by with the Connecticut Medical system.  Here in Charlotte... They care and they want to help you. I have been looked at by 4 different type of doctors and tested up and down and they wanted to help. I have found a Dr. that specializes in Fibro. And is COMMITTED to Helping me. What took 18 years to find out really only took 3 months down here. I am going on Cymbalta (hope I do not have side effects) and look forward to feeling better... Getting a new exercise regiment and diet...

I'm glad you've moved somewhere you will get more help. 18 years is a long time to wait for validation (funny how it helps when they believe you, isn't it??) I've heard Charlotte is a beautiful place, too....

Anyway, glad to have you "aboard!"

I am fairly new to the diagnosis too, although I have known I have had it for years.  My primary put me on Celexa a few weeks ago, and told me I definitely had it and needed to be on something for the pain and depression.  What a relief to have a caring doctor who understands!  My rheumy has been telling me I just had osteoarthritis (which I do) but nothing else.  So frustrating.

Its good to have a place to come with others who understand!

The first step is getting that diagnosis so you can begin getting the help you need!

Although not funny, I had to laugh about reading about flares. I had no idea what they were either. I mean I know what the word means, but I just couldn't relate. My life is one big flare!

Caring Dr.s are such a God send! Them and a good support system - critical to our wellbeing.
