talwin nx?

I take it. Its a pretty potent narcotic called pentazacine, mixed with narcan. Narcan kicks in after you get the benefit of the narcotic and flushes it out of your system. So you aren't dopey all the time. The narcan is time released so you don't have to worry about not getting the pain relieving benefit. There's a great website rxlist.com. I had to quit taking the medicine. The side effects were very troublesome. I have never heard of narcan...I thought it was naloxone...That is what the nx stands for...I have done some research on the drug, but it just doesn't seem to do anything for my pain... it just makes me feel crappy. My doctor's office is being a pain in my ***. It really sucks. They tell me to go off the med and then wait a month to talk to my doc about what to do next...that really pi$$es me off. But, whatever. I just wanted to see if it worked for anyone else. I am really trying to do all of this without narcotics...but so far I am having a very hard time of it...

Just FYI but Narcan is the brand name for Naloxone. So...the Talwin nx has Pentazocine and Naloxone in it.

And many times it takes a few weeks to a month to work out the side effects of any med. So that is why most Drs. ask that you try a new med for an entire month to see how it works as it takes that long many times to see the true pain relief of med as well.

The only reason they usually ok going off a med so quickly (in a few days like you did), is if someone has an actual severe allergic reaction to it.

May I ask what your side effects were?

When I first started MSContin I had a lot of fatigue, nausea...headaches...etc. But they all went away within a few weeks...

So...not trying to stick up for the Drs. here....but just explaining why they want to see you in a month.

The key is to not read too much about things online or think too much about the side effects (again...barring a true medical emergency with allergic reaction) as this can sometimes cause people to be pessimistic about a medication from the start instead of really giving it a good try for a month or so to see if it helps the pain levels...

Either way...I hope that you can work something out with your Dr. next month...
