Hello! I'm new it's my first post!!

Hi, I was just diagnosed with Fibro about a month ago, unlike a lot of others my diagnosis came pretty quick. I had tons of blood work. All came back fine except my vitamin D was low. I had a nerve conduction test done, which was also fine. I am seeing one of the best neurologist in the state. He checked the tender points and I have many. He sent me for a sleep study and I do not have sleep apnea. Sounds crazy but I wonder if the diagnosis was made too quickly. It takes some people years..my symptoms are I ache all over, thought for sure I had carpal tunnel, but the nerve test came back neg. I can not sleep, and most of the time forget my name :) at times I am beyond tired. If I garden 1 day I need 2 days to recoup. I have read Fibro 101 and it was very helpful. How quickly were some of you diagnosed? I look forward to having a place I can turn to and people "get it"

Achey consider yourself lucky to get a quick diagnoses. Sounds like he covered the test to rule out other diagnoses. Now you can start to learn how to manage fibro better. This is where the forum is wonderful to get great support and learn too. We welcome you!

My fibro has improved by leaps since I started. I got started just the way you did. The best way to stay connected is read each other post frequently. This way you can learn new ideas and can offer some input too. I went on line and order me a great book on fibro. Educating Your self is so important. I was amazed what I learned from the books. You will learn stuff here that your Dr. Probably doesn't share with you.

I try to keep my fibro treatment simple. I have tried numerious things in the past only to get bad side effects. I do the following or my fibro. Heat, eat healthy, rest when I can, limit stress ,light exercise, vitamin D, magnesium,remron, subutex for pain.

Try to remember we all react different to meds and treatment. Many of us have numerious health problems that go along with fibro. Trying new things is what I call a trial and error method. Some things might work and other things not. Some things can take several weeks for good results. Always ask your Dr. before trying new things. Some of the simplist vitamins can cause huge medical problems.

I was diagnosed about two years after my lupus diagnosis. I'm considered a newbie because it was this past January.

Welcome to the forum... I am glad you have joined us but sorry for the reason. You are amongst friends here now. We all understand what you are going through.

Know that you can find ways to make the pain less and life easier with fibromyalgia.

Hello Achey :) You have found the right place to be :)

I've had Fibro for 27 years. Took more than 20 yrs to diagnose it though. Heck, 27 years ago, I'm not even sure if they had come up with the medical term 'Fibromyalgia' ? I should know that, right ?

Anyway, I could type for hours, "IF" I had hours to type.....

But for the introduction, let me just say, although their is no known cure for Fibro, most people are able to lessen their symptoms at least somewhat, and a few very lucky individuals (such as myself... or should I say 'me' ? ... we have a regular member named, "myself' :) are able to reduce it so far, it barely effects us.
Put it this way, most of my Fibro (false nerve signals) last 1-5 min.... vs. days and weeks on end, like they did for the 20+ years, up until 4 years ago, when I did the complete life flip.

Wow you guys are amazing!! Thank you all so much for all the responses. I love to hear everyone's story. I have been reading a lot and trying to learn as much as possible about Fibro. What truly helps is hearing from others who actually know first hand what this is like and are so willing to help and offer advise on what has helped them in their journey 😃

Achey, I promise, you can mention almost any crazy symptom known to the human body, and I bet at least somebody, if not a "whole bunch of us" will have / get that same kind of symptom too.

Personally, I've had really bad spondylitis, super painful joints, stinging, itching, burning, etc, of almost any part of my body you could imagine ! And, besides all this < I had severe IBS for 20+ years :(

But anyway, I'm doing just so much better now :) Even with Fibro, their is always hope :)

I see you are new to the fibromyalgia forum. Do you have lymes? Just curious. You didn't say if you had fibromyalgia. If you do, please check out the first thread on the forum, called "fibro 101". It is a wonderful thread. Hope you are feeling well.
