hand pain with fibro now

I have been dx with fibro and am on disability from it and arthritis. This fall and colder weather has been tough on me this year. I have so much pain in my hand and fingers. I can hardly bend them and they are so stiff in the mornings. Also my thumbs and wrists. It seems like the pain just moves around for several months, I hate having it in my hands though! I think November is the hardest month for me every year. Well Spring is rough sometimes as well. Fibromyalgia is a true disease and has so many things to deal with. I can not believe some people think it is a made up disease, I wish.

Hands are a tough place to have pain! I was looking online last night at gloves for people with arthritis… seems like all I do is throw money at the pain!

I wonder how well those gloves work?
My hands get so sore at times. Sometimes they will pop and feel better.

That sounds bad. I've never had too much pain in my hands - once in awhile, but not debilitating at all. Do you think it's due to Fibro or more Arthritis?

I don't know, but since I crochet, needle felt, make jewelry… might be worth a try! One pair I saw had some kind of copper in them, which were supposed to make them provide heat somehow.

i had a lot of hand pain in beginning, but it seemed to pass...not sure why. Maybe because warmer weather came? Perhaps then could it be Raynauds? Fibro is never easy to understand!

I get a ton of hand pain and it is awful. And being an Admin assistant, it is especially awful when it hurts to type or write or even drive!! And I dont have arthritis... Been checked and that's clear at least...

I have pain in my hands and feet and I do not have arthritis, just fibro. It seems to feel like I am not getting enough circulation in the them. After rubbing them and petting the cat each morning, I start to feel okay and can use them but its really tough right when I get out of bed. In fact, we are shopping for a memory foam mattress in hope that this helps. /-:

I have pain in my hands and feet, especially my feet. But I do have RA so that may be where my pain comes from. I also have a shooting pain in my right wrist but I think it could be carpal tunnel from using the computer/mouse. It's always something, isn't it?

Most of the time I feel like I have swelling and stiffness in my fingers. I tried the gloves and they were ok, but there were these compression finger sleeves that worked much better.

I use those compression glove from IMAK....I love them. I sleep in them if I have to. I keep a pair at work and a pair at home. Once the cold weather starts, I use them almost every day.

One thing: the seams are very irritating, so I turn them inside out so the smooth side is against my skin, not the big seams.

I realize this is a pretty old thread....was hoping to maybe get in touch with anyone who uses any of the compression gloves that are out there. I do not yet have a dx, but I am 36-female, few months ago developed joint pain, never had any problem like it before. Definitely worst in my fingers/hands/wrists. I am looking for some type of supports, needed the most for the fingers.

Any recommendations or advice?

Carpal tunnel braces help me. Also try Morton's Episom Salt Lotion in the mornings.

I recently discovered I have degenative arthritis in my fingers, so make sure your doctor gets xrays.

Sounds like arthritis to me too. I found a wonderful cream called "Australian Dream". It doesn't smell either. Get some and rub into your hands. I bet it will help.

Thanks much for the responses. Will be making an appt with my new primary care doc tomorrow. Going to try some of the stuff you recommended. Fingers get to be so painful at times, ok, most of the time. Need to get this figured out soon.
