I have always had balance issues, since I was a kid. Most of my siblings have it, too. It got worse after the fibro diagnosis.
The best thing that has happened for me was core strengthening, through exercise. Also, I take my time when in situations that *might* cause me to lose my balance. When I am super-tired or have over-extended myself, that is when I am most susceptible.
For instance, I could never do an elliptical, ever. I always fell off after a minute. Literally. I have had a good bit of movement training and dance, but still just could not manage the balancing. I did other forms of exercise (walking and biking), but balance and coordination still suffered. In 2008, I started doing water aerobics, which helped my core strength. After a month, I decided to try the elliptical again. And I was fine. Now, I love it. And I fall or lose balance far less often, and end up with far fewer bruises.
Spinal stability and lowering your center of balance helps to manage movement better and more effectively. Posture, abdominal strength, and pelvis centering all contribute to this.
I have never heard of any supplement or med that can really help this. It is more about perception and body mechanics.
Good luck!
