For the first 40 years of my marriage I slept with my husband, but once I got FM I stopped sleeping.
Then after trying many different ways to get to sleep and stay asleep, I realized I sleep much better if I sleep in my own bed, in a dark room with ear plugs.

Just wondering how many others sleep alone? I know this is strange and my health comes first, but I find it embarrassing to tell others my husband and I are sleeping in separate beds.

We sleep together. My rule: if I have to get up more than three times, I sleep separately that night. He wears ear plugs when I have to get up early. I sleep much better with him than without. We lived separately for six years due to work.

I've been married for 33 years, and yes, we've had separate bedrooms for - I can't remember - probably 3 years. My hubby's snoring is SO LOUD!

I think it got worse gradually...my doctor put me on Klonopin about 7 years ago because my old sleeping problems started coming back. That helped for awhile, until I decided to see if I could get by on half a pill instead of a whole. I could, but only if I slept in another room.  At first it felt strange and lonely, but now I'm pretty used to it. 

Hubby jokes that one good thing about me growing increasingly hard of hearing is that eventually, we'll be able to sleep together again ;) He also says I should just take the whole pill, but I'm not going to. (I take enough meds, I'm not going to take more unnecessarily.) Neither of us likes this arrangement, but I can't dwell on it....sleep is too important.

C'est la vie. I know what you mean, sometimes I get "the look" from people when I mention this (or maybe I'm imagining it) but it seems a lot of people have to do this when they get older.  So - we're in good company.

Thanks for all the feedback, knowing that I'm not alone on this journey reduces my stress load and makes the day a bit brighter.

My husband snores LOUD too. For this reason we started sleeping separately. But the past few years I have become a horrible sleeper. I toss and turn, wake up several times a night. When he does try to sleep with me, neither one of us get any sleep. I don't know if I could sleep with anyone anymore.

Don't feel bad, I sleep seperate from my husband. At first it hurt my feelings, but then I realized he works and I don't. He needs his sleep. I am up and down several times a night and I snore. I do miss him holding me at night.
