Hi all - cant remember if i posted about this before? When I first got ill, I had a horrendous pain in my mid back, sort of where kidneys are...it left me doubled over for days...then it went, then came back on and off over next few months - then diasappeared completely...

Its now come back again...its excrutiating pain, like when you have been kicked in the back and feel sort of winded, it also comes alongside top of my abdomen under ribs pain also (same deep winded pain) I thought maybe IBS...But wasnt sure

I just wondered if anyone else has this pain - it comes and goes, which makes me think its some sort of spasm?

I get the same pain. For me it is kidney spasms, when it isn't kidney stones. Heat helps me.

Hi Tina - how do you know if its kidney stones....do they come out in your wee? can you see them? I dont think I have ever had one..I wonder what causes kidney spasms? How do you help this?

I think I do remember you talking about this, Wackers. Sorry it's not going away!

There were 2 periods when I'd get this type of pain off and on - the first time it turned out to be my Appendix, the second, my Gallbladder. Now that they're gone, that nasty ache hasn't been back.

Not exactly textbook presentation, but then again, when are we ever textbook? Both times, the worst pain was definitely in my mid-back. It was like a band of pain that estarted in my back and ended up going all the way around. I never vomited or even had much nausea with my Appendix...or even a fever.  I went to the ER when it got worse, and it took hours for them to take me seriously...the only thing that told them something was up was my elevated white blood cell count.

I sure hope you can figure this out and get it taken care of.   shakehead   I would definitely get in to the doctor.

Hello, iv had my gall bladder removed and iv had a kidney infection so I know what that kind of pain feels like. Maybe you should make an apt with your doctor just to make sure that you don't have a kidney infection. Very painful!!

That was my first entrance into fibro too! TWINSIES! (kidding...but it's nice to have humor about something that sucks so hard)

I also thought it was kidney stones but tested normal, even urinated in the little net for stones (yippee!). I had just completed a round of antibiotics for a tooth - not sure if that is related or not but thought I should share just in case.

I would never wish that pain on anyone. I couldn't stand up straight without crying. And I never found a reason for it......so weird. Let me know if you find something!

That sounds like kidney stones pain. I Have no doubt they will order a cat scan to look for one. It's common to have abdomen and back pain. I hope you dont have one. Please let us know how you are doing.
