I dont usually judge or criticise, but I currently belong to a UK forum for fibro...some have many conditions like yourselves and some have ME and Fibro, the negativity has pushed me over the edge...
I wanted to join as I get lots of useful advice for UK things like meds / NHS etc...but most are in wheelchairs, most wouldnt even contemplate exercise, im scared I will end up like this...its set my health anxiety off again!
I know I should just leave, but it helps me to know about
whats availble in the uK...I think everyone on here has spoiled me with their extra positivity and now I want the same.
I keep trying to introduce a new positive thread and then i get comments like "why bother - when you have fibro your life is over" blah blah...

I would stay away from a forum like that. Too depressing...

Wackers, I don't understand why you continue to go to such a forum. The negatives FAR outweigh the positives. You can get info on UK treatments on other sites. Go to some of your good hospital sites. We have several here in the US that I'm always quoting.
These members on the UK forum have given up. That means they will not accomplish anything much in life now. They let fibro take over their lives and that is most likely why some are in wheelchairs now. They let fear get the best of them. You see many of us on this forum that have had fibro for decades and we are still very active. That's because we didn't give up. We kept looking to find things that helped us control the pain. Unfortunately, some people try to be pain-free and, when that doesn't happen, they give up.
We could be having one heck of a pity party here but those definitely are not fun. You know the saying...misery loves company. Well, no one except a miserable person wants to be around another miserable person. Life is far too short for that.
There are so many things you can do with your life. I really didn't have to give up much. I thought I would have to but I have always tried to do things I didn't think I could do...but yet I did...like when I spread 99 bags of mulch in my gardens. I've done that over again, too, since I know I can do it now. I was frightened to try parasailing for fear I would injure myself and cause more pain but I cast my worries aside and did it and LOVED it! Don't let fear get a grip. Get on with living your life and don't "hang out" with people that bring you down. You will pay a price if you do.
So, as Karen said in a lot fewer words than I have, LOL, you need to stop going to that forum. That will only hurt you. It has been proven that a positive outlook helps with healing. I have seen it in my life over and over again so I maintain the positive attitude and it sure has helped me with fibro.

I tend to avoid gloom and doom sites myself. I'm gloomy enough some days and don't need someone pulling me further down. I need people like this group to pull me up.

I'd avoid those forums too. It is too easy to "catch" that mindset. My acupuncturist said there are some people she can't help because their identity is so wrapped up in their diagnosis that they are unable to give it up. They NEED to be sick. I don't want to be sick. I refuse to consider disability. I will do everything I can to make myself feel better. Nothing is worth feeling so sick.

Sometimes it's best to leave some forums in the dust. I've come across a few of various topics (not just fibro) and was amazed that some people were allowed to post just about
anything! It didn't take long for me to hit the trail.....
I'm thankful for this forum, and for the 'gumption' so many people have here. I love that there is a real type of cameraderie in searching for good, positive solutions. A great group of people!
