how do your partners/supporters cope??

hey guys, a shout out to all the supporters on here, how do you cope with seeing your loved one in constant pain???

Usually i am ok, but today, for some reason, i have been so emotional. Andy has had fibro for 17 years and is also a chronic cluster headache sufferer so i am well used to living with pain conditions. I am also on the ouch uk helpline and i give advice to sufferers and their supporters, but yet i still find myself struggling at times.

Today, he had an appt at the pain clinic and instead of me being the strong one with all the questions i wanted to ask, i just went to pieces and am now so annoyed at myself for being like that!!

So, that's my story, anyone else find it difficult at times??

Just wanted to give you kudos for being so supportive! As involved as you are in Andy's pain, it's no wonder you feel it so hard, and occasionally have a hard time. Please don't be so hard on yourself.

My hubby tries in his own way, I know, but usually his way is just to give me a wide berth and stick his head in the sand...block it out for the most part. So he doesn't negate my pain and other issues, he just "won't go there with me."

But we're still together after 25+ years of Fibro, so I know that still waters sometimes run deep.

I have a friend whose hubby researches alonside her, goes to dr appointments with her, etc. I can't even imagine what that would be like.

thanks guys!!! Andy has given himself 'a talking to' and seems in better spirits today, which always lifts my spirits too!! He does notice when i am struggling too, and we usually help each other along!!

think i was just having 'one of those days' yesterday, but yeah i do tend to be hard on myself at times

I don't have anybody to support me. I am all by myself, no family here, no husband, no boyfriend. I am generally a strong person but these past 6 months took a toll on me ( headache, dizyness, nausea) so much so that I am thinking about going back to my home country to be with my family.
But I am stubborn so we shall see who beats who...
