Hello!

Hi everyone..I'm new to this forum. Been reading for a while now but only just got courage to post anything. Was diagnosed with RA two years ago and Fibro last summer. Am really struggling with the constant pain and trying to get my head around all the meds....just started gabapentin 3 weeks ago....hate it. Feel like I spend all my time sleeping, spaced out or twitching (body adjusting to meds I think) Trying to be positive but life as a single mum is hard enough without having to deal with this as well
.....my kids are amazing tho....keep me happy!
Anyway, just wanted to say hi and that I'm so happy to have found this community, even tho I've been silent I read what is here and it always makes me feel so much better. I hope that's ok?

Karen, yes gabapentin is Neurontin. Had a very strange 3 weeks. Built up to high dose of 3x300mg 3 x a day, my body went into shock I think. Twitching, feeling like i had a fever, not able to stand etc... Daughter found me and got dr who then reduced dose to 1 x 300 3x a day, starting to feel better now.

I think that i really struggle with the depression that seems to go hand in hand with fibro, take Sertraline & Diazepam, but fight each day to find even a tiny piece of who i used to be. Feel bad for my kids, they do so much now. I try to get out of the house each day but sometimes can't. I want to walk my dog like i used to, but can't. Feel quite isolated. UK weather doesn't help!! But i live by the sea and i love that😊

Also take Sulfasalazine & Plaquenil for RA....Methatrexate used to wipe me out for days so stopped that.

Have app. at pain clinic soon so am sure that will help.

For most of us it can take a while to find just what helps us with the least side effects..

My family has a history of needing lower doses of meds than a lot of people. So i have to cut some pills in 4ths...so getting to the right med in the right dose can be crazy..

But with trial and error , you can get help, so we keep trying

My daughter recently visited dorset on a mini vacation.the pictures were so beautiful

Ljm...thanks for advice on meds...it is trial & error...but I'm sure I'll find the right balance. Hope your daughter enjoyed Dorset! I lived there for a while but now just over the border in Devon.
