For the last week my feet have been doing new things. I have been having this major stabbing pain in my right heel that knocks the wind out of me. I can't predict when it's going to happen, either. Yesterday the middle toes on my right foot felt hot and hurt but they were actually cold to the touch. The left foot was fine. And for the last week my toes have been more pins and needles than usual but this morning my heels have been totally pins and needles any time I lay on my back or get up and walk. If I lay on my side then the foot on the side I lay on goes completely numb. I have an appointment with my doc in three weeks. Should I see him sooner or should I not be worrying about these things at all?

Hi,

If it were me , i think i would at least call and see if you could get in earlier..save yourself some worry time..

When i had heel pain in the past, it was plantar fasciitis..

Do you use ice or heat to try and alleviate it?

Evenkeel, many years ago when I had to be on my feet a lot, I came down with horrible heel pain on one foot. It was hard for me to walk. I suffered with it for weeks until it was suggested that I take a supplement called Lysine.

I took the Lysine and it went away almost immediately. But I was also on some other beneficial supplements. You might want to google bone spurs and supplements.

I also have Plantar Fasciitis. It is horrible some mornings and feels like I have rock stuck in my heel. It has never made my toes hurt though, just my heel.

I would probably also call to be sure.

Hope you feel better soon. It is awful when our feet hurt!

I have poor circulation and have lots of problems with my feet. They fall asleep easily, and the ankle and toe areas ache. If my ankles ache substantually, the pain spreads up my calves and makes it hard to sleep. They are subject to temperature extremes. Get it checked out, by all means.

I have chronic bilateral fasciitis and this is way, way worse than that. Ice always helps the fasciitis and it made this pain worse. I wrapped my foot with some coban wrap and that helped the pain a lot. It's a lot better this evening, thankfully. Now more parts of me are going numb, though. I'm wondering if my joints are swelling because the numbness patterns like nerve entrapments. My face, hands, and feet all have numbness and/or pins and needles in them. My breathing and heart rate are fine. I guess if it keeps up tomorrow I might have to give my doctor a call just to make sure he doesn't want to look me over.

Huh. It appears that all of the extra numbness is probably a side effect of the topamax I just started taking. Oh, joy.

Did you know that there is something called tarsel tunnel syndrome? It's like carpel tunnel syndrome but it's in the foot. Maybe you need to see if this is what's going on?

Coban is the thin sports tape/wrap stuff that sticks to itself. It's great for lightweight support and compression. I also use it on my wrists when they get really achy. I buy mine at a farm store in the horse area because it's cheaper and wider and comes in pretty colors. Couchtater, I'll have to check with my doc about that. I've always had paresthesias in my feet but this is way worse than it's ever been.
