New ads, a problem

Hi ,
Anyone else getting annoyed with the new ads popping up all the time? They get in the way of the display, and sometimes, once I click on the x, the display goes to super tiny , unreadable, and I have to re display, then another ad pops up, and so on...

It's driving me nuts.

I don't care for them myself. I do understand that sometimes websites need advertisers to keep the site going. I mostly use a laptop when I'm on this site because of the ads, but I can imagine how difficult it might be on a phone or even a tablet.

I'd rather put up with them, though, because this site offers so much help and support to me.

Yea, I understand needing ads. It'sjust this some new thing. Before they showed up on the side. Now, they pop up and more and more. And it's not working right because it's impacting the display. It's really overkill and frankly administrators (tech folks, not discussion boards) really ought to be notified when a feature is causing a problem.

Not life and death, but a problem nonetheless.

With you tango , on this..when they are on the side , or at the top, i scan them...sometimes visit the sites.

How ever the pop up ones are definitely more intrusive!

Yes the advertisers are necessary , but hoping the pop ups are not

I too understand this site is funded by these ads and our wonderful moderators work for free...but I just tried to read this post and got all tangled up in three different moving ads. The print got huge and the margins disappeared. As a matter of fact, while I am typing this, the font size has changed four times....

Maybe it's something they have to work on.

It is annoying. My laptop blocks them but my tablet doesn't.

I just started having the same problem when using my IPad. I thought it was something I was doing.

If admins know who we can contact about these tech issues with the new ads, can you let us know? We can each perhaps contact the folks about, one how much we love this site, and two, how much these ads are a distraction, and big problem. Honestly, if I were new, I'd probably go elsewhere due to the nuisance. So, they'd be losing viewers in the long run.

Having once been a person with a working brain and able to work in computer software coding, haha, I'd say there is a software bug. And a a rambunctious salesperson who made a booboo.

Does anybody notice when the ads are on, the computer seems to slow down in maneuvering around the forum? My keyboard is even messing up. I do believe it is the ads. When I "X" them out it works fine. They are bothersome to say the least.

Yes, ads can be distracting. I try not to pay much attention to them and just focus on the site, but sometimes that's easier said than done!

I think the worst ones I've seen (elsewhere) online are the ones that block what you're trying to read, either the huge ones (you have no interest in), or those little "One question surveys," which I would never complete, short or not. Um...if I wanted to do a survey, I'd likely just go to a survey site, right?? rolleyes

It's horrible on my phone, which I always use to read here, mostly while I'm walking my hallway back and forth in pain. It's usually relaxing and helps me deal with the pain, but now it's frustrating when I'm having to fight the pop ups every single page.

I'm fine with ads, but the new pop ups make the site almost unreadable for me, which is a bummer, and I'm already spending less time here reading. cry
