YW, and thanks for your concern, Grammy, about our moving. You wouldn't believe the supportive and understanding husband I have. He understands I can't do a lot and he enjoys working hard. We're taking the move slowly, we're going to have 3 weeks to get it done. Not only is my husband strong, he's smart too. I feel truly blessed.
Congrats, Grammy, on having your sleep apnea issue come back as normal! I was tested for that a couple times in the past. I have a mild case. I tried the CPAP and I couldn't do it, maybe because of my old neck injury. It was very uncomfortable for me. You must be thrilled you can stop using it.
I wonder if healthier carbs would do the trick for you, Grammy. I found a bread in the freezer section of the store that I like better than Ezekial Bread. It's Rudi's bread. We buy the gluten free multigrain variety. For the first time in my life, I found a bread with crusts that I love too.
Do I crave sugar? No, maybe because I don't eat it? When I'm at a nice restaurant with beautiful desserts, it can be difficult to pass up things like key lime pie. But then I remind myself of how I'll sleep if I eat it or how I'll feel the next day. Then I pat myself on the back and take pride in myself and say, job well done!
And, I also don't have sugar or products containing more than a minimal amount of sugar in the house. The only sweetener I use during the day is some local honey in my steel cut oatmeal in the morning.
I've found if I occasionally eat something, like when I would cheat years ago and have a Burger King whopper, I would crave those bad foods more. Completely staying away from it, helps me keep those cravings away.
I'm definitely not near perfect when it comes to snacking. In the afternoon I have a few sweet potato chips and a bit of healthy cereal with almond milk. These seem to help settle my stomach. And in the evening I have white bean chips and homemade guacamole. The chips are processed but they're probably better the most. These are the treats that I crave.
I do have a healthy morning snack, almond butter spread on a slice of Rudi's toast.
And for drinking, I only drink water and I have a cup of apple juice with my breakfast. I drink a lot of water. I find that I crave it.
