Has anyone had their fibro come on suddenly when it started. I had been having a few painful hours in the middle of the night every few months then I woke up one morning crippled. My doctors tell m this is not how fibro starts

I also don’t have trigger points – I have crushing pain from my toes to my head – is this common

Anyone???

No, My fibro didn't do that, but my lupus did.

What kind of tests has your doctor done for you?
Fibro is usually diagnosed as the last thing when all else is ruled out.

Hi James. I have not discovered that Fibro comes on in any particular way.
One thing we know about Fibro is that it effects different people differently.

The people on this board collectively know more about Fibro than your doc does and you will read many varying stories about how the Fibro started and how it developed if you stick around. Check out the thread Fibro 101 at the top of the page.

My Fibro started out with a few tender points and and severe lower back pain. In spite of the many interventions I've tried, it just kept getting worse and developed into the kind of full body pain you are talking about.

Don't rule it out yet and definitely seek a second opinion.

Mine also came on very quickly over a few days - my Dr. thought I had strep or something and the tenderness was due to sore lymph nodes. I wasn't diagnosed until 10 years later in 2002 and still battle with Dr.'s telling me things don't work the way they happen to me.

I assume you are also a man - since fewer men are afflicted maybe symptoms aren't typical? And as Woolrow says, it affects everyone differently.

not so suddenly severe. I would def do my best to make sure my doc has actually ruled evrything else out.

Mine started slowly, back in the 1980s. First, in the cooler months, I would get a flare. Then in the 1990s, it occurred more often up to today. Age is a factor, too, I think. The older I get, the more I tend to flare.

The pain comes on gradually, and you don't get suddent crushing pain... it builds up.
