Wow...something is wrong here

I know I'm new here but I don't play games and I tell it like it is so here goes:

Frankly I'm a bit offended by the moderators choosing to close a post that I started with a question. The question has yet to be answered. What I received was a lot of words being put into my mouth that I never stated. Closing a thread like that before I have a chance to respond makes me think this is all about who gets the last word.

I do not appreciate not being able to defend my comments. I DID NOT say some of the things I am being accused of saying.

1. Enough explaining! I understand that you think the diet thing is too much. I agreed...remember? What I asked was what will you do if someone offers up a diet-related remedy for a classic fibro symptom? I see Sherrine said she would think about it, that is great! But what's up, Acheybody?? Why do your comments come across a bit hostile to me?

2. I NEVER said fibro IS IN FACT an inflammatory disease. I said it is DEBATABLE. And it is! Doctors and researchers are NOT in agreement about this. I can post references if you need. So...you cannot say for a fact that fibro is not inflammatory. And does it even matter? We all share anecdotal remedies here. I see many remedies being offered in other threads that are not evidence-based. Why is this suddenly an issue? Why can't a person try eating a certain food or NOT eating a certain food as a solution to a NON-DIGESTIVE fibro symptom?

The problem I'm having now is how biased some of your statements are coming across. Forget the diet thing. I'm over it. Do what you want. You know best, as you said. But please don't discourage us from having our own opinions and offering advice to others. Otherwise, what is the point of this forum?

Jumping into the fray just to iterate that I totally "got" what Acheybody was saying on the other thread; I felt like it spoke directly to me. I'm not ready to attempt to modify my diet. I'm newly diagnosed, and while I know that I need to eat in a more healthful way, I'm just making it right now, trying to keep my head above water. I have a family of 6, and it's not feasible for me to spend big bucks altering everyone's diet (which is what it would take) to do something that may or may not work for my pain (I have my IBS mostly under control by avoiding triggers). So it definitely can be frustrating to read lots and lots of posts about it, or see them over and over when I log in to ask a question or to see if something I've posted got an answer. I appreciate the dietary information, but it's not something I can dive into right now, really. Just my 2 cents.

Yes I was upset because I feel we are going around in circles and opinions on the inflammatory thing are not being respected, when its just as valid as any other research on fibro. Nobody really knows anything for sure so the word FACT needs to be kept out of the conversation. Everything relating to fibro is basically a hypothesis. As for the diet thing, I understand that too much is TOO MUCH. I just asked if it was still possible to suggest a particular food or diet for non-digestive issues at any given point in the future. If the answer was "yes, but don't overdo it". Why didn't they just say that? That's what bothered me about their reply.

I agree I should have emailed them individually. I didn't think of it, so my apologies to Peter. I will let the issue rest since its getting old and sour at this point.

It's really best to take these kind of conversations "offline". Sherrine and the other Mods have their emails accessible so that these discussions are not taking up space and wasting money that the owner of the site pays for.

I don't think a lot of new people understand that Peter pays for every single letter/word that is written while we get to enjoy HW for free! So, that means that we should respect him, as well as his Moderators that he has chosen.

If you, or others have a problem with something, please take to email and try to work things out there. This isn't helping the Fibro forum at all by arguing about things in this manner.

I have been here for years and think the Mods do an amazing job for FREE....they are in pain everyday and deal with their health issues but take time out to help on the boards. We all aren't going to agree on everything but the Mods as a "collective" get the last word along with Peter about what should stay, what should be locked, and what should not be posted at all.

I certainly think that all Sherrine was trying to do was to limit a bit of the "dietary" talks that have been rampant on the boards lately. If there was one or two a week on this subject like there used to be, that is fine. When there are 5, 7, or 9 posts a day on these subjects....it takes away the balance and doesn't offer newbies better chances to look at all the topics out there.

But now that you are upset about things, this is when it should be taken offline to discuss.

True, he has to pay for the hosting, not true, he gets enough traffic on this site now, it's practically run by itself. Moreover, the mods are not paid, they are given extra power to control the site. Using money to justify the actions of the mods are not valid.

Anyway, I'd rather this round of spiteful comments be stopped, it's unpleasant and it is stressful to the mods. We all have same Dx, we all know what brings it up and what make things worse. So, what's done has been done. Just let it be.

Liz if you are still having issues with Debbie, I guess private conversation might be more appropriate as mentioned. Too bad, this site does not have a private message function. I'd surely use that function.

You are absolutely correct, Jasmine.  I've been trying to stop the discussion and move fortward by locking threads but then a few keep it going.  I hope this stops soon. 

 

I'm sorry that a few are upset but this is something that needs to be done so we can help one another in dealing with pain, fatigue, medications, etc.  So, again, I guess I need to lock the post.  I do thank you for your input and you are right! 

 

By the way, Debbie is one of the nicest people you would want to meet and spends a lot of time on this forum helping others even though she has extreme pain from fibro and back surgery and disk problems.  It's easy to be misunderstood when you are only using the written word.  When emotions, facial expressions and so on are eliminated, people can take things the wrong way.  This is what I think happened with Liz.  We all need to be mindful of that.  I've been misunderstood many times.
