I went to my yearly rheumatologist appointment today.
She is the kind of doctor who only put patients on meds when they really need it. She started me on primrose oil 6 times a day, and it went well and helped, but not completely. Especially in the winter when it's -45F with high humidity (I'm from Canada brrrr!) and I can't use my body like normally. Aka, cannot
open cans or bottles or I'm always tired.
She also told me to lose weight, which I did but not enough for her.
She wants to put me on Topamax for both the pain and to lose weight.
She also want me to go to what she calls "FM rehab".
www.constance-lethbridge.qc.ca/CRCL_WEB/US/pContenu.awp?type=SE&id=44 for the center I will be going to.
She asked me if I was working, to what I said no. And I had to explain to her that when I do a full day of regular work, I get very tired and it takes me a day or two to recharge my batteries and that, because of that reason, I can't get a 9 to 5 job.
She said the FM rehab will help me with that.
I am extremely scared of take meds. I much prefer taking the natural route like eating well and exercise and eating the right type of food for FM. Like avoiding aspartame, drink a lot of water, eat a lot of veggies and fruits, no carbs no gluten, lean proteins etc etc etc. Vitamins too.
I do everything I can to lose weight but it's not working.
As per working out, I do so depending of the energy I have, and yes, I do push through the pain but by keeping it healthy or else, I "crash" and end up out of spoons for days.
Should I start the Topamax anyways? Any good or bad experiences with it?
