HI, Juno'smom, and welcome! I used to live in Ohio but now I'm a Floridian. Love it!
Some good alternative things are gentle daily exercise like walking, swimming, and yoga. Also gentle massages have helped people. I use a neuromuscular massage therapist who has been trained to massage clients with fibro. This has helped me quite a bit. Keeping active helps because if you sit or lay too long you will be stiff as a board and have more pain. I use some supplements that help, too. I use vitamin D3 and magnesium malate for pain and fatigue, krill oil, folic acid, and CoQ10. I also pace myself when doing things and that helps me a lot.
With fibro, it's a trial and error type thing to find what helps you be in control of the pain. I wish there were several things that always helped us but that's not what happens. We have to just keep trying things until we get the relief we need to be in control and then we can have a full and enjoyable life in spite of this illness.
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
