Hi Everyone smilewinkgrin

I am a 6 year lurker, hehe. I am 48 and diagnosed 6 years fibro among other things. If I could give everyone a hug I would:D Its been a very hard road that has led me through pain, loneliness and Christ. I had among many things a neck and lower back fusion. The back fusion being last year. I am diagnosed severe fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, high bp, spondalytis, gerd, I know I forgot a few, lol but also just recently possible nerve damage in my L1 lower back area. I was wondering if anyone else suffers or suffered this and what the prognosis treatment is? I go for xrays next week then a mylogram sometime in may. The fibro is bad but with the nerve pain its at times unbearable and wonder how to see my life in the future? God Bless each of you for years of seeing I am NOT alone and how you guys have helped me though I haven't been active.

I am glad you finally joined us. I had a feeling somebody was watching me... lol...

I see you have made some posts, but I didn't look to see where. I am glad you found us and decided to join in.

I am sure you know about "fibro 101". It is a very good thread...

I imagine that you have unbearable pain. I am sorry for that. I wish you well with the xrays and the mylogram as well. I hope you can find something that can be fixed to ease your pain. I know nerve pain can be bad. I hope that you feel better soon.

Keep posting and know we all care. And that we are very happy to have you post...

Hi, Cricket, and welcome back! Well, I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis and sacroiliitis two years ago. I had bad, raw nerve pain that ran from my back/hips down my groin to my calves with both legs and I needed two canes to walk. My strides were in inches and I would break out in a cold sweat when I knew I had to walk. Trying to get my legs into bed was a trick, too.

I found an excellent board certified rheumatologist who ran a myriad of tests to reach my diagnosis. I was put on ibuprofen with food, Tylenol, and a muscle relaxer called Robaxin and that made a significant difference in my pain. I no longer need any canes and walk my dog every day for over a mile plus do a lot of other things.

I will say that he wanted me to take Remicade infusions but I didn't feel comfortable doing that so that's how I ended up doing what I'm doing. So far, so good!

So there is always hope. Have you tried magnesium malate and vitamin D3? Those also help me with fibro pain and they have helped others too.

I hope you get some answers and start to feel better soon.

Welcome cricket! I have had cervical fusion and it was years before I finally figured what the heck was going on. I would go to my surgeon thinking something wasn't right from my fusion. I thought I had nerve damage and all kinds of problems. I finally figured out it was all my fibro causing all my issues. I bought some great books on fibro and I could see myself on each page. I made a treatment plan for myself and it worked. So if your neuro or surgeon can't find the problem you might want to see if fibro is rocking your boat. I have learned to just accept the crazy numbnes I get through out my body. Good luck!

Thanks ladies:) Ughhh Angel I would rather give the pain to something else other then fibro but my nerve conduction test came back abnormal and I had previous surgery:(
