I am sorry your having to go through this. I never had a mastectomy, but I had a few major surgeries with fibro. I know we are all different so you need to remember this. Don't let one story upset you. I usually respond terible, so I have learned to warn the Dr. and anestelogist about my condition. If you been on narcotics for awhile, sometimes our bodies are use to them. So it might take more to make you comfortable. Ask your Dr. about pain control. If your under PM now, our PM dr's have hospital privileges so they can come control the pain. I am not sure if your under PM. If you get nauseas easily, make sure you let the anestelogist know and Dr. They have tricks to control the nausea from sedation.
You want to move around as soon as you can. This will help with so many things such as pain, lungs, bowels, circulation and etc. I always responded slower in getting released to go home. It took me a little more time. These days discharge planners are ready to throw you out
the door as soon as your foot hits the ground safely. Lol
I pray everything goes well. Just remember we respond all different. Please let us know how your doing when you can get your strength back.
Are you going to have reconstruction the same day?
