I'm looking for a new pair of slippers as mine are two years old and have died. With the pain, I now have special criteria and get any cute pair like used to. So here's what I need:

-a slip on pair so I dont have to reach my feet in the morning
-a rubber sole
-a bottom solid and thick enough so my foot doesn't reach the floor, but soft enough so I don't feel like I'm standing on the floor
-no inside seams to rub the bottom of my feet

I don't want to order them online. I want to try them on and walk around in them. It doesn't matter where they come from or how much they cost. My feet are very special, they deserve better.

Hi spacecadet: Sorry I don't have any specific suggestion, but just wanted to say I like thick, soft soles, too. So often, the slipper soles make you feel like there's no cushioning whatsoever! I add the soft shoe inserts that I buy at Wal-Mart; they really help save the bottom of my feet.

There are several kinds now--rubbery, soft, extra layers, etc. and they seem to always be adding new ones for different areas of the feet (extra padding on the heel, etc.). I found some good ones at Wal-Mart in a footcare display area near the pharmacy.

I use Tamarac. Slip-in, hard rubber soles, padded inside. Get a size bigger than you would normally. They run small.

I wonder if SAS carries slippers? They have very comfortable shoes.

The Wicked Good slippers from LL Bean are great. Also, Birkenstock just started making clogs and sandals that have shearling lining the sole and the leather straps…they look amazing, and would be my first choice if I was buying slippers!
