Hi jrjenn5: I haven't had anything like what you have had, but after having surgery for a ruptured appendix, I got gastritis from the meds I took. Wow--was my stomach area sore!
I don't know if this would help, but what I did was keep on a low-residue diet. You could do a search on that, or in summary, it's foods that are not rough or spicy: Cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, yogurt, rice, applesauce, bananas, toast, baked chicken, very lean beef, cooked carrots, soft dinner rolls or white bread, Cream of Wheat or Rice cereal, etc.--foods such as that.
I was also told to not eat a lot at a time, but instead, have several small snacks. Chamomile tea was also soothing. I also still drink gingerroot tea, which is good for the stomach, I've read (just don't make it too strong. I peel, then microwave small pieces of gingerroot for tea).
Can you handle anything like the Ensure or Boost shakes? They're supposed to have lots of nutrients.
I don't know if any of this helps, since these are different issues. But, I did well, even when my stomach was terribly sore. Drinking lots of water helped, too. I remember too, holding a cold water bottle on my stomach, which seemed to help. I occasionally get smaller stomach flares now, but they're much milder. When I do, I go back on that 'diet.'
Anyway, maybe you could also ask your doctor for dietary advice. I hope your stomach feels much better soon. You surely have my sympathy! Be good to yourself and best wishes.
