You are actually taking 90 mg of morphine a day. If it isn't helping you, you are probably getting a dependence issue starting. Actually high doses of narcotics after and extended period of time can cause you more pain.
I took oxycodone for quite awhile. I did have morphine added for a month. I only took one 30 mscontin a day. It did help with the pain. So morphine is a good pain medication for some. I stopped it because it made me depressed. Strong narcotics do for some reason.
I honestly think talking to your pain management doctor would help. After all they make the decisions. But if you have been on morphine for a long time, you might want to think about taking a holiday for awhile so it will start working again. Not to mention you have a broken leg. That would be rather painful. Though it would probably acute pain as apposed to chronic pain.
I went on a similar drug to suboxone to try to get off of the narcotic pain medication and try to assess my actual pain. After going off the oxycodone, I honestly am not hurting as much as I thought I was. So I am pretty excited about that. What I take is suppose to have a small amount of pain killer in it, so I am really curious as to how I am going to do going off of that now. Though I think it is still going to be awhile before I can do that.
I wish you the best with this. I am sorry that you feel dependent on the morphine. What I take is called zubsolv. It is the same as suboxone but a different brand. It has helped a lot, but has been a slow process to take and then go off of. But once you get opiate dependence, you need a little help getting it out of your system, I really do wish you the very best. Like I said, I had luck with oxycodone for a long time, but I think that they all give us that dependence problem.
Hugs, Karen...
PS I felt kind of tired on the morphine and it felt like somebody was pressing down on my shoulders really hard. Plus it made me sweat. Do you ever go through that?
