Is this normal?

I may posting into the wrong forum, however this is the closest one to my "issue" I am an 18 year old former high school wrestler, I had a sever injury to my neck in a few matches. I am sitting here and I have realized that there is a gross "sand paper" like noise in my neck when I roll my neck.... My doctors said its a series of dislocated vertebrates (3), I am wondering what I should do next, any help will work.

Hi, Nathaniel, and welcome! I would suggest you follow your doctor's instructions. If it is just a noise that is bothering you, I would try to ignore it. If you get accompanying pain, go back to the doctor.

It also is not good to roll your neck! When I am stretching muscles I will move my head down so my chin is towards my chest and then raise my head upright. Then I move it side to side...like I'm trying to put my ear on my shoulder. I will move my head to the side then bring it upright, pause, and move my head to the other side. I don't roll my head from side to side either. Your rolling your neck could be aggravating the problem and you do say that's when you hear the noise, so don't roll your neck. You probably are hearing your vertebrae grinding...which isn't good. Hopefully your body will heal in this area.
