Any nerve meds that dont relax muscles?

I'm from the lyme forum, but figure some folks here might know the above Rx question.

Im trying to differentiate some occational pain in some old injuries. I figure a trial of some nerve RX drugs that dont relax muscle might help out a mystery of nerve vs muscle pain. Do any work on nerves and NOT relax muscle?

Right now its my bothersome foot. It comes and goes depending on my physical activity, but doesnt like weight on it. I did something to it a week ago that was minimal, but then walked on it a long time-made it act up again.

Knowing if its pain from nerves or soft tissue will help my approach. thanks

I did some reading to see how this medication works since I take it for a different reason. Here's what I found on several sites:

'How does gabapentin work?
Gabapentin works by changing the way in which nerves send messages to your brain. When something presses on a nerve, or a nerve doesn’t work properly in some way, the nerve can send false messages to your brain. The brain thinks that a part of your body is being hurt when it is not. This makes you actually feel pain. By altering the way nerves work, gabapentin may reduce your pain.'

Hi Chutz (and everybody)...I have been posting on the Chronic Pain page but the Fibro applies to me as well. I don't want to hijack the post I wanted to thank you for the good explanation of the Gaba. I take it times a day now and love it. It is so helpful. I was not sure really what it did except that it really helps. Thanks for the information, Chutz!
